"The Secret of the Lord"
The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him . PS 25:14
What is the sign of a friend? Is it that he tells you his secret sorrows? No, it is that he tells you his secret joys. Many people will confide their secret sorrows to you, but the final mark of intimacy is when they share their secret joys with you. Have we ever let God tell us any of His joys? Or are we continually telling God our secrets, leaving Him no time to talk to us? At the beginning of our Christian life we are full of requests to God. But then we find that God wants to get us into an intimate relationship with Himself— to get us in touch with His purposes. Are we so intimately united to Jesus Christ's idea of prayer— "Your will be done" ( Matthew 6:10 )— that we catch the secrets of God? What makes God so dear to us is not so much His big blessings to us, but the tiny things, because they show His amazing intimacy with us— He knows every detail of each of our individual lives.
"Him shall He teach in the way He chooses" ( Psalm 25:12 ). At first, we want the awareness of being guided by God. But then as we grow spiritually, we live so fully aware of God that we do not even need to ask what His will is, because the thought of choosing another way will never occur to us. If we are saved and sanctified, God guides us by our everyday choices. And if we are about to choose what He does not want, He will give us a sense of doubt or restraint, which we must heed. Whenever there is doubt, stop at once. Never try to reason it out, saying, "I wonder why I shouldn't do this?" God instructs us in what we choose; that is, He actually guides our common sense. And when we yield to His teachings and guidance, we no longer hinder His Spirit by continually asking, "Now, Lord, what is Your will?"

Marine removed from duty over Bible coin reports
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A U.S. Marine in Iraq has been removed from duty amid complaints that he was handing out coins with Bible verses at an American checkpoint, the military said Thursday.
A military spokesman said Iraqis in Falluja complained that the Marine was giving the coins, which were printed in Arabic, to people at an entry control point in Falluja.
U.S. Military regulations prohibit religious proselytizing.
"This has our full attention," said Col. James L. Welsh, chief of staff of Multi-National Force, West. "We deeply value our relationship with the local citizens and share their concerns over this serious incident."
At least one of the coins is stamped with the words "Where will you spend eternity?" according to a report published Thursday by McClatchy Newspapers.
The other side of the coin reportedly contains a verse from John 3:16 that reads, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life."
Several Falluja residents said they were given the coins over a two-day period and complained that U.S. Troops, whom they consider foreign occupiers, were acting as Christian missionaries.
"Regulations prohibit members of the coalition force from proselytizing any religion, faith or practices," said Col. Bill Buckner, a coalition spokesman. "Our troops are trained on those guidelines before they deploy."
A military statement said "appropriate action" will be taken if the reports are substantiated.
The reports stoked religious concerns in Iraq just weeks after Iraqi police discovered that a U.S. Soldier had used the Quran, Islam's holy book, for target practice.
The U.S. Commander in Baghdad took the unusual step of holding a public ceremony and reading a letter of apology from the soldier, a sniper section leader, to local Iraqi leaders.
Many in attendance were members and leaders of Sunni militias that the U.S. Military has courted to help fight al Qaeda in Iraq and other insurgents. Sunnis often face criticism from other Iraqis for cooperating with American troops.
Falluja, also a mostly Sunni city, was the scene of bitter and bloody fighting early in the Iraq war between U.S. Troops, al Qaeda in Iraq and Sunni insurgents loyal to Saddam Hussein. THE REDEEMED MARINE IS CONSTRAINED BY THE LOVE OF JESUS TO WITNESS IN IRAQ

MAY 08
Dear Ralph,
Things have been very busy here (Iraq) so I have not had the opportunity to email you in a while. Wanted to give you a brief update. I received the Gospel coins in Arabic from Gene Cunningham. I was very glad to receive them and have had a lot of success in distributing them. I give them mostly to children in a direct manner and to the adults in a more indirect manner. Someone emailed me and said they would be sending me some CD's. I am not sure who that was, but I am looking forward to receiving those as well, especially if they are in Arabic. I emailed the person you said could use my help as well. Things are going well and the Lord is faithful. Must go for now.
In Christ,

Greetings All,
The Lord continues to bless through the doors He has opened to the Warriors and their families. We have been able to serve hundreds of Warriors recently at Edson Range. It is just so exciting to watch the Lord work in their hearts and lives. We would like to let you know about some upcoming events.
This coming Monday, May 26th we have a special homecoming for Truck CO at Camp Pendleton's Santa Marguerite area. We primarily will serve the family members dinner while they wait for their loved ones to come back home. We will be gathering together around 7:00pm Monday night to prepare to serve the families. If you can make it please send us an email so we can get you the directions and plan on your help that night.
Also, coming up July 13th and August 17th we have two family days for Warrior units and their families at Camp Pendleton. As we get closer I will send more info.
We also are planning a special outreach concert and BBQ on Sunday June 8th at Camp Pendleton from 4-6pm. Again more info to follow.
Pray about being involved with us and of course please pray for God to do a mighty work in the hearts and the lives of those we are honored to serve.

Our precious daughter Natalie continues to amaze us with her strength and courage. She only has 1 1/2 more cycles of chemo left. She should be done in early July - maybe in time for her birthday July 3rd when she turns nine. Natalie is doing great and we thank God for His grace in our lives. We really appreciate all your prayers for her and our family.

Measure to bar gay marriage qualifies for California ballot
The initiative to amend the state Constitution will go before voters in November.
By Jack Leonard, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
7:03 PM PDT, June 2, 2008
Setting the stage for a political showdown on gay marriage, the California secretary of state today said an initiative barring gay marriage had enough signatures to qualify for the Nov. 4 ballot.
The proposal would amend the state Constitution to define marriage as a union "between a man and a woman."
